The aim of this course is to help students understand the foundations, technology, and applications of Management Information Systems (MIS). The course emphasizes ‘Systems Thinking’; the conceptualization of Information Systems as structured configurations of elements behaving collectively to serve the information needs of an organization. Course Outcomes At the end of the course, students should be able: The relationships among management, information, and systems. The relationship between a manager’s need for information and his/her position in the organization How the hardware, software, data, and procedures are combined to form an information system How information technology can be used by a business organization to gain competitive advantages Why knowledge of information systems is crucial to anyone who plans a career in business
